Cows and Carnations – Story of the Stimson’s in Woodinville

FREE ADMISSION | The Stimson family is one of the more prominent names in early 20th-century Seattle history. Brothers Charles Douglas and Frederick Spencer Stimson built considerable wealth in the Northwest timber industry. Frederick later established Hollywood Farm in the Sammamish Valley, which became one of the area’s most notable agricultural estates.
Woodinville Heritage Society President Kevin Stadler shares the story of Fred and Nellie Stimson’s arrival in Washington State, their rise as prominent members of Seattle society, and their later success in the Sammamish Valley, where they became known for raising prized Holstein-Friesian cattle and growing carnations and other flowers at Hollywood Farm.
